American Eagle pilots, represented by ALPA, have demanded that
AMR Corporation halt any plans to outsource Chicago-based flying
currently performed by its subsidiary, American Eagle. AMR’s
announcement to shift certain Chicago flights to American
Connection is “unacceptable” and violates the Eagle
pilots’ current collective bargaining agreement.
UAL Corporation, the holding company whose primary subsidiary is
United Airlines, announced Thursday that Jane F. Garvey, former
administrator of the FAA, is joining the UAL Board of Directors
effective September 23.
Growing passenger volume will require more efficient,
higher-capacity aircraft in all size categories over the coming 20
years, according to Airbus' latest Global Market Forecast - which
expects airline traffic worldwide to more than double between 2009
and 2028.
