The strike against Boeing by the International Association of
Machinists and Aerospace Workers turns three weeks old at midnight
Friday. That's also the day striking workers will pick up their
first strike benefit checks from the union. The weekly payments of
$150 will continue as long as the strike lasts.
Russia's aviation authority has called for the immediate
grounding of all passenger flights on Boeing 737 airliners,
following the September 14 downing of an Aeroflot-Nord aircraft
that claimed the lives of 88 passengers and crewmembers.
As expected, shareholders in both Northwest Airlines and Delta
Air Lines overwhelmingly approved the merger of their two companies
Thursday. The FAA has already signed off on the deal, leaving only
approval by the US Justice Department.
Environmental Groups Applaud Effort To Develop Fuel
Boeing announced Wednesday it has -- along with leading air
carriers and Honeywell's UOP, a refining technology developer --
established a group to accelerate the development and
commercialization of sustainable new aviation fuels.
Airbus has selected Rockwell Collins to provide side displays
and docking stations for the new Class 2 electronic flight bag
(EFB) on its A320 family of aircraft for both production and
aftermarket applications. The system helps improve operational
efficiency by electronically connecting airline and pilot
