An Iranian airliner overshot a runway and struck the airport
perimeter wall, killing 17 of the 153 people on board, and injuring
19 others. "There was an accident and a fire involving a passenger
plane from Tehran to Mashhad," the official IRNA news agency
reported, quoting the deputy governor of Khorasan province,
Ghahreman Raid.
Up to 60 aircraft ferrying world leaders to the G-20 economic
summit in Pittsburgh next month will all need a place to park, and
officials of the Allegheny County Airport Authority say those
parking spots may be at a premium.
