When it comes to the current economic crisis facing US airlines,
one low-cost carrier apparently believes things will get worse
before they get better. AirTran Airways announced Monday it will
defer 18 Boeing 737-700 aircraft originally scheduled for delivery
between 2009 through 2011 to 2013 through 2014.
Yet Another Disappointment For The Dawdling Dreamliner
The first Boeing 787 Dreamliner for Russian carrier Aeroflot
won't touch down in the country until 2016 at the earliest,
according to an announcement from Aeroflot last week reported by
Reuters. The expected 28-month delay for Aeroflot is yet another
result of the string of delays that have kept the airliner from
first flight.

American Airlines agreed to drop a $2-per-bag fee for check-in
service curbside at airports around the United States as well as
the lift of a ban on tips for skycaps at Logan International
Airport.
