Boeing is in the process of acquiring Vought Aircraft
Industries' interest in Global Aeronautica, LLC, a South Carolina
fuselage sub-assembly facility for Boeing's newest airplane, the
787 Dreamliner.
According to the Society of Professional Engineering Employees
in Aerospace (SPEEA), IFPTE Local 2001, the Boeing Company’s
decision to buy a large stake in a major supplier’s US plant
for the 787 is a necessary first step to bringing work back to the
experienced employees who can get the program back on schedule.
AirAsia X, the new long-haul low cost-carrier within the AirAsia
Group, has signed a firm contract for an additional 10 A330-300s,
which brings the airline's total order to 25 A330 aircraft. In June
2007, AirAsia X placed a first order to 15 A330s. The agreement was
signed by Azran Osman-Rani, AirAsia X Chief Executive Officer and
John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers.
