North America, Mexico Dates Announced for Boeing 787 Dream Tour

First Stop For The New Airplane Set For March 1 In Toronto

Boeing has announced dates and locations for the fourth segment of the 787 Dream Tour beginning March 1. Stops will include visits to cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. In addition, the Dream Tour airplane, ZA003, will be featured at the FIDAE Air Show in Santiago, Chile, in late March to kick off the fifth segment of the tour.

Electronic Petition Drive Gets Grassroots Traction

A controversial series of YouTube videos mocking a flight attendant's bosses at American Airlines has morphed into an all-out grassroots movement to remove the upper-management team now running American Airlines, which filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in November of 2011. The bankruptcy filing was followed by an announcement of extensive layoffs and planned pay cuts at the airline.

Sigma Space Deploys World’s First Operational Volcanic Ash Measurement LiDAR

NASA-Derived Technology Enables Accurate Volcanic-Ash Assessment At Airport In Argentina

At the request of the Argentinean Ministry of Defense, a LiDAR system developed by Sigma Space was installed at Bariloche airport in Argentina on January 30th. Since the June 2011 eruption of the Chilean Puyehue, Bariloche has been suffering from intermittent ash clouds blowing from the volcano, and the airport in Bariloche has been closed much of the time since the eruption.
