It wasn't the biggest problem to strike the beleaguered Southern
California Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) but it still
left an impression. On Thursday, a radio outage at the facility
forced three flights to divert from landing at San Diego's
Lindbergh Field.
Eliminates Air Travel Restrictions To Land Down Under
On Thursday, Secretary of Transportation Mary E. Peters
announced the United States and Australia concluded a landmark
Open-Skies aviation agreement that will eliminate restrictions on
US-Australia air services for the carriers of both countries. The
agreement comes after three days of negotiations in Washington.

Pratt & Whitney tells ANN the company has successfully
completed Phase I sea-level performance and acoustic testing on the
full-scale Geared Turbofan demonstrator engine ahead of schedule.
The engine will now be configured with the flight nacelle system
for Phase II ground testing beginning in April in preparation for
flight testing on Pratt & Whitney's 747SP flying test bed in
mid-2008.
