NASA, Boeing Finish Tests Of 757 Vertical Tail With Advanced Technology

Active Flow Control Could Lead To Smaller Structures, Saving Weight And Fuel

NASA's Ames Research Center and NASA's Langley Research Center, in partnership with Boeing, have completed wind tunnel testing of a full-scale Boeing 757 vertical tail model equipped with active flow control technology. A major objective of the tests was to show active flow control can enhance the performance of a vertical tail enough to enable future designers to reduce the size of the structure for a whole family of airplanes.

Germania Becomes New Airbus A321 Operator

Aircraft Delivered Equipped With ‘Sharklet’ Wing Tip Fuel Saving Devices

S.A.T., the holding company of the Berlin-based German carrier Germania, has taken delivery of its first out of two A321s on order. Both aircraft are equipped with Airbus’ wing tip fuel saving devices, called "Sharklets". The airline has already been operating eight A319 successfully since 2011.
