As Nigerians began a three-day mourning period Monday for the
117 victims of this weekend's downing of Bellview Airlines Flight
210, crews at the accident scene searched for any clue they could
find that could shed light on what brought the B737 down. Word came
early Monday the aircraft's flight data recorders had been located,
although that story was later rebuked by the Nigerian Civil
Aviation Authority.
Northwest Airlines has resumed hiring permanent replacements for
striking Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association members following
the union's refusal last week to put the latest contract offer to a
vote, after the airline allegedly inserted new language into the
previously agreed-upon written offer.
Police removed a United Airlines pilot from the cockpit Sunday
morning flight after TSA screeners at Miami International Airport
told police they had smelled alcohol as he passed through
security.
