Fatal Commercial Accidents Fall By One Over Previous Year
EASA has issued preliminary aviation safety data for 2011 which
shows a modest improvement in worldwide safety levels. In
commercial air transport operations, the number of fatal accidents
decreased from 46 in 2010 to 45 in 2011. Safety performance
continues to show important regional differences: the region of
non-EASA Member States in Europe shows the highest number of
fatalities with a total of 138. This is followed by the African
region with 87 fatalities.
Jobs To Come From Wichita, KS, And Puget Sound, WA
Boeing says it will relocate approximately 800 – 900
engineering and program support jobs from Wichita, Kan. and Puget
Sound, Wash., to Oklahoma City by the end of 2013. The B-52, C-32,
C-40, E-4B and VC-25 programs will now be supported at Boeing
Oklahoma City, which will have approximately 2,000 employees when
the transition is complete.
The latest salvo in the sabre-rattling over the EU-ETS comes
from the European Commission, which said Thursday that airlines who
do not account for their emissions under the newly-imposed
cap-and-trade scheme could be banned from landing at European
airports.
