Coalition For Space Exploration Looking For Ideas From The
Public
During this historic time of change within the space industry,
the Coalition for Space Exploration (Coalition) says it wants to
hear from the American public about what they envision for the
future of space exploration. The Coalition is launching a contest
based on a simple question, "What's Next?" Participants are
encouraged to share their ideas for the future direction of
America's space program in a video.
On Monday, Space Expedition Curacao (SXC) and XCOR Aerospace,
Inc. jointly announced the completion of a multi-million-dollar
transaction that secures the wet lease of production Lynx tail
number two for operation on the Caribbean island of Curacao,
pending export licensing action.
The first Soyuz to be operated from French Guiana has begun the
integration process, marking a major step toward Arianespace's
introduction of the workhorse medium-lift vehicle into its launcher
family at the Spaceport. During activity last week, the Soyuz
launcher's central core Block A second stage was fitted with one of
four strap-on boosters that constitute the Russian-built launcher's
first stage.
Looking At Long Term Risks From Cosmic Radiation To Human
Heart, Central Nervous System
NASA is funding nine proposals from eight states to investigate
space radiation's effect on human explorers. The proposals from
researchers in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Maryland,
Massachusetts, New York and Texas have a total value of
approximately $12 million. The ground-based studies will work to
better understand and mitigate risk of damage to the heart and
central nervous system from cosmic rays.
'Ride The Light' And Advanced Battery Projects Get Funding For
Future Development
NASA has selected what is says are two "game-changing" space
technology projects for development. The selections are part of the
agency's efforts to pursue revolutionary technology required for
future missions, while proving the capabilities and lowering the
cost of government and commercial space activities.
