NASA has selected Teledyne Brown Engineering Inc. of Huntsville, AL, for its International Space Station mission operations and integration contract.

At a news conference today, NTSB Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman identified the origin of the Jan. 7 battery fire that occurred on a Japan Airlines 787 parked at Boston Logan Airport, and said that a focus of the investigation will be on the design and certification requirements of the battery system. It began with an exchange on Twitter last month between Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield and actor William Shatner, who played Captain Kirk on the 1960's television series Star Trek. As part of the exchange, Shatner, who was born in Canada, was invited to visit the Canadian Space Agency for a telephone conversation with the astronaut.
