Entire Launch Abort System To Be Tested Next Spring
NASA and its industry partners celebrated a test-firing of a
critical safety component of the Orion crew exploration vehicle,
the space agency's next generation of spacecraft designed to take
astronauts to the moon, Mars and beyond.
The organizers of Yuri's Night, an annual worldwide celebration
of humanity's achievements in space, have opened registration for
events centered on April 12, 2010.
Space shuttle Endeavour will deliver the final module of the
U.S. portion of the International Space Station on the STS-130
mission, now targeted to launch February 7th. NASA will preview
this mission during a series of news briefings Friday, January
15th, at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Two Day Ride Ahead For American, Russian, and
Japanese
NASA astronaut T.J. Creamer, Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kotov and
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Soichi Noguchi safely
launched aboard a Soyuz TMA-17 spacecraft to the International
Space Station on Sunday.
