Second Pair Of Galileo IOV Satellites In Orbit

All four Galileo IOV Satellites Were Assembled, Integrated And Tested By Thales Alenia Space In Rome

The last two Galileo IOV (In-Orbit Validation) satellites were successfully launched on Friday October 12th by Arianespace, using a Soyuz rocket at the Guiana Space Center in French Guiana. These two satellites, assembled, integrated and tested at Thales Alenia Space's plant in Rome, will join the first pair of IOV satellites, launched in October 2011.

NASA Seeks Student Experiments For 2013 High-Altitude Scientific Balloon Flight

Application Deadline Is December 14

NASA is accepting applications from graduate and undergraduate university students to fly experiments to the edge of space on a scientific balloon next year. The balloon competition is a joint project between NASA and the Louisiana Space Consortium (LaSPACE) in Baton Rouge. The agency is targeting fall 2013 for the next flight opportunity for the High Altitude Student Platform (HASP).
