NASA partner United Launch Alliance (ULA) has completed the fifth and final milestone for its Commercial Crew Development Round 2 (CCDev2) agreement with the agency's Commercial Crew Program. The Hazard, System Safety and Probabilistic Risk Assessment detailed how ULA's Atlas V rocket launch system hardware would ensure crew safety during launch and ascent.
Felix Baumgartner Latest In A (Short) Line Of High-Altitude Jumpers
Just before dawn on October 14th, 2012 a balloon lifted off near Roswell, New Mexico. Aboard was extreme parachuter Felix Baumgartner. His goal, basically, was to smash three records. Garbed in a full pressure suit, Baumgartner was out to set a new record for the highest parachute jump as well as the longest free-fall and become the first person to break the sound barrier in flight without an aircraft.
Towed 12 Miles Through Los Angeles, CA, Streets To Its Final Resting Place
The California Science Center has its space shuttle. Endeavour was towed 12 miles through the streets of Los Angeles, CA, over the weekend to the museum, which will open the permanent exhibit on October 30th.
