NASA scientists at the agency's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, effectively have ruled out the possibility the asteroid Apophis will impact Earth during a close flyby in 2036. The scientists used updated information obtained by NASA-supported telescopes in 2011 and 2012, as well as new data from the time leading up to Apophis' distant Earth flyby Wednesday.

'Build A Death Star' Petition Created On White House Website

A petition has popped up on the White House "We The People" website urging the Obama administration to build a "Death Star" beginning in 2016. " The petition, which was created in November, has gathered only 34,435 signatures so far, perhaps in part because of the official White House response posted just below the call for a "Death Star."
