Days Of Thunder At Daytona

F-15s Bring True Meaning Of The Need For Speed

Race week in Daytona is always pretty wild. For some students this year, it's already time for Spring Break. Then, of course, there are tens of thousands of NASCAR fans roaming around town, waiting for a race and looking for some adventure in the meantime.

But the real excitement at the Daytona 500 came from above Sunday. Four F-15 (three C models and a D model) overflew the raceway prior to the start were at the 2005 Daytona 500 race on Sunday, 20 February 2005.

The aircraft from the USAF 1st Fighter Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, FL, parked at Lynch Air (DAB) during the event awaiting for their scheduled flyby at the Daytona Speedway next door to DAB airport.
