First Prize Is A Complete Private Pilot Training Program
Chances are, if you're reading Aero-News, you've at least had a dream to learn to fly. But if you're still wondering how you might reach that goal of Pilot in Command ... and you live in the Greenville, SC area, this may be your chance to learn to fly and have someone else pick up the tab. Upstate Business Journal, Airwolf Aviation Services, Greenville Downtown Airport and Greenville Jet Center have joined forces to give away an entire flight training package!
First prize will be one entire Airplane Pilot Training Program which includes all the training, books and exams to qualify someone to get their private pilot's license. Valued at $8,000. Second prize will be one Discovery Flight Lesson which includes 45 minutes of ground instruction and a 45 minute flight. Valued at $149!
"A pilot's license can help your non-aviation business, literally, take off!" stated Michele Rash, Owner of Airwolf Aviation Services. "Many of our students are business people who see the need to expand their business using aviation. This is a concept that many other people haven't really considered. Educate yourself on the power of flight and help your business reach new heights," Rash said. "Other people learn for a hobby or to become a career pilot. Either way the sky won't be your limit when you learn to fly," added Rash.
"Our industry foresees a future shortage of trained pilots," stated Hank Brown, Owner of Greenville Jet Center. "This contest is one way that we can help make a difference. It may bring us one new pilot and it may also inspire others to learn. I have been in aviation for 54 years. I was introduced to it and never left. I would like to inspire others to pursue the miracle of flight," stated Brown. The aviation industry forecasts that there is going to be a huge shortage of pilots in the future, partially because of all the former military pilots who are scheduled to retire.

To be eligible, you must be a US Citizen at least 17 years of age by May 19th, 2013 (or have the signature of legal guardian if younger), must live and/or work in Greenville or Spartanburg County. You must weigh less then 250 lbs and be capable of passing a third-class flight physical. You must be willing to sign a liability waiver. Winner's pilot training must be completed by May 19, 2014 with winner scheduling at least one lesson per week. Lessons are usually 2 hours long.
The contest starts March 15th, 2013. Applicants can increase their chances of winning by legibly completing and submitting an unlimited number of original official entry forms together or separately. No photo copies will be accepted. Additional contest rules and entry forms will be published in upcoming editions of the Upstate Business Journal, the Greenville and Spartanburg Journals, and TOWN Magazine.
Entry forms can be mailed or dropped off during regular business hours to Airwolf Aviation Services at 100 Tower Drive, Unit 8, Greenville, SC 29607. They must be received by 5 pm on May 18th. Winners will be notified on May 19th, 2013 which is International Learn to Fly Day.
