Cessna Delivers First Sovereigns

No Charge For The Extra Range

Cessna celebrated the delivery of the first two Citation Sovereigns yesterday. The aircraft were delivered to customers in Mexico City, Mexico and Green Bay (WI).

In addition to receiving their keys to Cessna's newest midsize jet, the new Sovereign owners learned that the Sovereign's range is over 100 nm better than anticipated. The Sovereign is certified to carry 446 additional pounds of fuel and travel over 100 nm further at maximum cruise and altitude. The certified fuel capacity is 11,216 pounds at 6.7 pounds per gallon.

"The feedback we've received from customers, the FAA, and our sales team leads me to believe the Sovereign will be one of Cessna's best selling business jets," said Cessna's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Roger Whyte. "We know this new range announcement will be favorably received by customers. Our original fuel capacity and range estimates were conservative. This new performance number provides operators with more mission flexibility."

The Sovereign's performance numbers include a 459 knots cruise speed, 3,694 feet takeoff distance, 2,650 feet landing distance, and 47,000 foot ceiling. The Citation Sovereign has the largest cabin and best runway performance of any midsize aircraft in production. The Sovereign will accommodate up to 12 passengers and a crew of two, and 100 cubic feet, or 1,000 pounds, of external baggage.

Cessna says it has received over 100 firm Sovereign orders that are worth over $1.5 billion in backlog.
