AirCam Down In Southern California

Pilot Fatally Injured In Accident At Hemet-Ryan Airport

An AirCam went down Saturday shortly after takeoff from Hemet-Ryan Airport (KHMT) southeast of Los Angeles, CA, resulting in the fatal injury of the pilot, who was the only person on board the airplane.

The accident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. local time, according to the Press-Enterprise newspaper. First responders found the airplane inverted on the ground with the pilot trapped inside the wreckage. He was transported to Hemet Valley Hospital, which called the Riverside County Coroner's Office.

The pilot has been identified as 73-year-old Loren Gallagher of Hemet. FAA records indicate the plane was registered to Gallagher in February.

No other details about the accident are available at this time. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.
