SWA Pilots Announce Agreement

Contract Finally on the Way?

The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA) and Southwest Airlines announced today that an Agreement in Principle (AIP) on a new contract has been reached. Southwest folks may have an updated contract soon, thanks to their negotiating committee. An AIP in place allows them to move towards a Tentative Agreement, which will be voted on by the 11,000-strong pilot group before moving on to become an active contract. Before the pilots can vote, however, the agreement has to pass muster from SWAPA's 25-man board of directors.

FAA Issues SAIB Regarding Faux Parts from AOG Technics

Bulletin Provides Guidance on Finding, Reporting Tampered ARC Documentation

The FAA issues a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin regarding the possible usage of engine and APU components sourced from AOG Technics, a recently disgraced vendor that had misrepresented its wares. The FAA issued a handful of recommendations, mostly aimed at determining the presence and validity of any equipment that passed through AOG Technics hands. When identified, the FAA wants operators to ascertain the validity of the parts' accompanying ARC documentation, a piece that was apparently falsified or tampered with by AOG Technics. As the search for bunk parts spreads, guidance should now help operators report their findings accurately.

One of the greatest airshow events in the UK has been cancelled for 2024 and question marks litter the landscape thereafter. A letter addressed to friends, partners, and colleagues on the Flying Legends website stated that, “It is with much regret that we confirm our decision to cancel the upcoming Flying Legends Air Show 2024. This decision has not been made lightly and an in-depth assessment of our options for the year ahead.”

MACC to Lease Columbia Regional Airport Terminal

Missouri Flight School to Lease Space for Aviation Program

Moberly Area Community College of Missouri will lease 1,900 square feet of space at the Columbia Regional Airport for the cost of $15 a sq. ft. The school will also be responsible for buildout costs, adding about $287,320 to the tab. The new expansion will go to support the College's Aviation program, which will lead to an associate's degree in applied sciences. Of course, the flight training is the real prize in the program, like most - students will come away with at least their Private Pilot, Commercial, Instrument, and Multi-Engine tickets, with an elective CFI course offered to cap it all off.

Airflite Becomes Daher Authorized Service Center in Australia

TBM Operators Down Under Gain Pair of Support Locations in Perth, Jandakot

Daher announced the addition of Australian operator Airlfite as an authorized service center for their family of turboprop aircraft. The locations for Airflite support will include Perth International Airport (YPPH) and Jandakot Airport (YPJT), with a maintenance hangar located in the southeast Australian state of Victoria at Moorabbin Airport (YMMB). Airflite provides "an extensive range of support services for TBM and Kodiak, ranging from work on structural repairs, avionics, batteries, propellers, painting, and non-destructive testing", and it even boasts a mobile repair team for deployment across Australia should an aircraft require in-situ repair.

On November 30, 2023, about 0614 Hawaii standard time (HST), a Boeing 717-200, N494HA, sustained minor damage when it was involved in an incident after pushback and while taxiing for departure at Kahului Airport (OGG), Maui, Hawaii. The 119 passengers and crew onboard were uninjured. One ramp personnel sustained minor injuries.
