Introduced at EAA AirVenture 2018, an XL Baggage Door offers improved access for all non-pressurized 4-place models, including ES, IV and Mako. Lancair’s new XL baggage door is 40% larger than the original design, opening up baggage compartment access for larger items, such as oversize suitcases, golf bags and more. Door area is increased from 375 sq. in. to over 530 sq. in.

Boeing Poised To Assist In The Training

Boeing’s Training and Professional Services Division is anticipating a great need for training Pilots, Aviation Maintenance Technicians, and Flight Attendants over the next twenty years. Boeing thinks that commercial airlines will need 42,700 new aircraft in the next twenty years, with four times as many single aisle aircraft, with 40% of the aircraft going to Asia. Boeing projects commercial airlines will need about 790,000 pilots worldwide in the next two decades.

STCs Will Make Landings Safer and Smoother

By Maria Morrison The BERINGER AERO Company debuted a prototype for their new landing gear system, as well as their newest Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), at AirVenture this year. Claire Beringer, daughter of the founder Gilbert Beringer, presented a “very hasty mock-up” of the new spring gear. The oleo shock can easily be bolted onto the existing frame and the dampening pressure can be adjusted, which reduces up to three times the stress on the airplane. Claire expects that the spring gear will be experimental for several years before it is certified, and will generally be marketed to bush pilots, flight schools, experimental pilots, and those operating in rough terrain.

Vote Brings the First Collective Bargaining Agreement to JetBlue Airways

JetBlue pilots have ratified a tentative agreement, which now becomes the pilot group’s first collective bargaining agreement with the company. With 98 percent of eligible pilots participating, 74 percent voted to ratify the tentative agreement. The agreement provides significant increases in pay, improvements to retirement, and enhanced working conditions. “After more than three years of negotiations, JetBlue pilots now have a contract that recognizes our contributions to this company,” said Capt.
