FLIR Systems has announced that DJI, the world’s leader in civilian drones and aerial imaging, will integrate the FLIR Lepton micro thermal imaging camera within its DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual drone. This fully integrated, compact, gimbal-stabilized system will expand the close-range capabilities of commercial pilots, helping them to work better, safer and quicker with side-by-side thermal imaging and visible imagery.

Will Acquire 25 New Embraer E175-SC Airplanes

The ExpressJet Airlines pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), have been notified that United Airlines announced the award of 25 new Embraer E175-SC aircraft to ExpressJet as part of a deal that also includes the sale of ExpressJet from SkyWest Inc. to ManaAir LLC, in which United Airlines will own a minority interest. The sale is expected to be complete in early 2019.

Performs Compliance Flight Without Safety Pilot Onboard

The Airbus Helicopters VSR700 demonstrator took off for a fully unmanned autonomous flight at the military airbase in Istres in the south of France. The purpose of the flight was to establish compliance with the demanding regulatory and safety systems necessary for future unmanned flight in France.  During the exercise the demonstrator performed a 30 minute flight successfully executing a variety of flight patterns before landing in an autonomous mode. The unmanned air vehicle was piloted and monitored from the ground station located at the base.

Carrier Has Four More Scheduled For Delivery In 2019

Embraer recently celebrated the delivery of its 1,500th E-Jet, an E175, to Seattle-based Horizon Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, Inc. Horizon Air’s E175 is configured with 12 seats in first class, 12 in premium class and 52 in the main cabin. By the end of the year, Horizon will have a fleet of 26 E175 with four more jets scheduled for delivery in 2019.

Fishermen would be puzzled if they netted only big and little fish, but few medium-sized fish. Astronomers likewise have been perplexed in conducting a census of star-hugging extrasolar planets. They have found hot Jupiter-sized planets and hot super-Earths (planets no more than 1.5 times Earth's diameter). These planets are scorching hot because they orbit very close to their star. But so-called "hot Neptunes," whose atmospheres are heated to more than 1,700 degrees Fahrenheit, have been much harder to find. In fact, only about a handful of hot Neptunes have been found so far.

Republic Airways Holdings Inc., the world’s largest operator of E-Jet aircraft, announced today that it has finalized a firm order for 100 E175 aircraft with Embraer, which originally was announced at the Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, England, earlier this year. The standard straight-in pattern starts at a point that results in a straight-in approach with a high rate of descent to the runway.
