Imaging Sensor Allows Tracking And Designation Of Targets

Lockheed Martin recently completed its 300th Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) for the F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter. EOTS is an imaging sensor which allows the F-35 to identify, track and designate targets. The 300th EOTS was completed under the 10th Low-Rate-Initial Production (LRIP) contract, and each system was delivered on time or ahead of schedule.

EASA has granted an STC to Universal Avionics for a UniLink UL-801 Aeronautical Telecommunications Network Baseline 1 (ATN B1) upgrade on a Bombardier CL-600-2B16 (601-3A Variant), to comply with the February 2020 European Data Link Services (DLS) Mandate. ESTC was awarded to Avionics Integration & Engineering Corporation AG and marks the first European DLS capable approval for the Universal Avionics UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit (CMU).

Airbus Installs First 3D Printed Titanium Part On Series Production Commercial Aircraft

Airbus and its supplier Arconic have achieved a 3D printing first—the installation of a 3D printed titanium bracket on a series production Airbus commercial aircraft, the A350 XWB. Arconic is 3D printing these parts for Airbus’s newest widebody aircraft at Arconic’s additive manufacturing facility in Austin, TX.
