Over the last week, information has been disseminated about a lawsuit served on the Planes OF Fame Museum and Airshow operation located in Chino, California. Fighting back, with limited public disclosure (probably to avoid even further legal repercussions), the Planes of Fame crew has established a petition operation using change.org to seek support as they prepare for a legal hearing on April 20th. The petition efforts states, "A lawsuit has been brought against the Planes of Fame Air Museum by the Yanks Air Museum, Flying Tigers Aviation, SOCAL MRO, and Zangeneh Aeronautics with the sole intent to stop

Extremely Costly AD May Be In The Works For Continental Engines

Over the weekend, Continental Motors issued Mandatory Service Bulletin MSB05-8B affecting all 520- and 550-series engines (plus a few IO-470s). Normally, Part 91 operators are not required to comply with manufacturer’s service bulletins. However, when Continental issues a Mandatory Service Bulletin, it means that they have asked the FAA to issue an Airworthiness Directive (AD) to make compliance compulsory. Our friends at TruTrak Flight Systems have just announced that they are now offering PMA’d autopilot install kits for the Cessna 172 F through R models as well as the Cessna 177. EAA was awarded the STC for the install kits on March 28. TruTrak received their Low Risk PMA, on March 30. TruTrak is continuing to work with EAA on the remainder of the Vizion autopilot approval, which is expected later this summer.
