Airborne 10.14.16: Solar Impulse UAV?, Bombardier CS300, Spirit Pilots Picket

When the Solar Impulse 2 aircraft completed its circumnavigation of the world earlier this year, we were reminded that the story was not about the airplane; it was about promoting the use of renewable energy. Now, the focus appears to be changing to the aircraft itself. The French news service AFP reports that Solar Impulse co-founder Andre Borschberg told reporters earlier this week that an unmanned version of Solar Impulse is in the works.  EASA has awarded Type Validation to Bombardier's CS300 aircraft, which is a precursor to a first delivery to CS300 launch operator, airBaltic of Latvia.
