Total Grants Add Up To $3.7 Million For GA Facilities

Governor Tom Corbett has announced a $3.7 million state investment that will help 19 airports enhance their operations and accommodate increasing business needs. "Transportation is an economic driver, and Pennsylvania's aviation industry plays a major role in delivering good-paying jobs and connections for commerce," Governor Corbett said.

Claims Infractions Took Place During Employee Orientation

Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges were filed Tuesday against The Boeing Company by the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), IFPTE Local 2001. Charges were filed after union representatives said they heard company officials tell new employees they are prohibited from saying negative things about their employment.

United Airlines Announces First 787 International Routes

Destinations Include Tokyo, Lagos, And Shanghai

United Airlines has announced the first international routes for the airline's newest addition to its fleet, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. In addition to the previously-announced service from its Denver hub to Tokyo Narita, starting March 31, 2013, the airline will operate nonstop 787 service five days a week between its Houston hub and Lagos, Nigeria, beginning Jan. 7, 2013.

A-7 Corsair Wreckage Found Off The Coast Of St. Augustine, FL

Plane Went Down During A Training Mission In 1974

Divers have discovered the wreckage of a Vaught A-7C Corsair II which was involved in a mid-air collision during a training mission in 1974. The pilot of the airplane, Bob Besal, ejected safely from the stricken airplane after he collided with one flown by his commanding officer, but the plane was lost. The other aircraft made it safely back to Cecil Field near Jacksonville, FL, then a naval aviation training base.

Falsified Logbook Leads To Probation For Iowa Pilot

Attempted To Get Commercial Rating Based On Inflated Hours

A pilot who attempted to get his commercial rating without having flown the requisite number of hours to enter the program was sentenced to four years probation for falsifying his logbook. Fahad Nabeel Hussein Al-Daous, who holds joint U.S. and Saudi Arabian citizenship, pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FAA.

NASA Mars Rover Begins Driving At Bradbury Landing

NASA's Mars rover Curiosity has begun driving from its landing site, which scientists announced today they have named for the late author Ray Bradbury. Making its first movement on the Martian surface, Curiosity's drive combined forward, turn and reverse segments. This placed the rover roughly 20 feet from the spot where it landed 16 days ago.

A man was arrested in Baton Rouge, LA, after he locked himself in the cockpit of an American Eagle airplane sitting at a gate at the airport. Andrew Alessi was unarmed, and will likely be charged with interfering with a flight crew.

The vote came Wednesday after two skydivers were blown off course on August 12th and landed on the Kings Bay submarine base in southeast Georgia.
