Just days before the Friday certification announcement, ANA, the launch customer of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, announced the first international routes for the aircraft. The first Dreamliner is scheduled to be received late September, with the first regular long-haul international operation to be Haneda-Frankfurt, a new route to operate from January 2012. The aircraft will also be used on the Haneda-Beijing route from December, marking the aircraft’s first regular international service.

Busted: FAA Seeks $262,000 Civil Penalty Against Ameriflight

Fines Imposed Over Problems Alleged In Drug and Alcohol Testing

The FAA is proposing a civil penalty of $262,000 against Ameriflight, LLC, of Burbank, Calif., for allegedly violating Department of Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing programs and provisions of the company's FAA-approved Antidrug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program. The FAA alleges Ameriflight conducted the Department of Transportation's required pre-employment drug tests, but did not wait to receive verified negative drug test results before hiring 14 people to perform safety-sensitive flight crew or maintenance duties. China Eastern Airlines Tuesday took delivery of its first Next-Generation 737-700 outfitted with both the High-Altitude/High-Temperature Airport Operations Feature Package and the new Boeing Sky Interior. Aircraft Delivered Wednesday Is One Of 52 To Be Modernized

The third production C-5M Super Galaxy has been delivered to the U.S. Air Force. The sixth C-5M overall to be delivered to the Air Force, this aircraft will undergo internal paint restoration at Stewart Air National Guard Base, N.Y., before traveling to its permanent home at Dover AFB, DE. In July, the C-5M Super Galaxy became the first U.S. airlifter to perform a polar overflight direct from Dover AFB to Afghanistan.

Pilots At Work! Bahamas Habitat Flies First Hurricane Irene Relief Missions

Organizations' Pilots 'Delivering Aid and Assessing Damage' 

The folks of Bahamas Habitat tell ANN that its first response pilots are now delivering aid to numerous points in the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Irene. The organization moved quickly and had its first planes arriving on Friday August 26th shortly after the storm passed to the north. The group has set up a main depot and coordination post at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE). Volunteers and pilots have come in from numerous points in the US and Bahamas. Planes were dispatched to deliver supplies and assess the damage and needs so the organization can direct the next wave of volunteer pilots according to the conditions they find on the ground in the various "Out Islands".

Says FAA Did Not Conisder Increased Traffic When Runway Was Approved

A Seattle-based federal court of appeals has struck down plans for a third runway at Hillsboro, OR, west of Portland (KHIO). While the proponants of a new runway said it would be a boon for aviation-related businesses at the airport, Judge Betty Fletcher, writing for the majority, said the FAA and other agencies "do not explain why this is so and do not refer to anything in the record backing their contention."
