The NTSB's factual report in an accident involving a Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) Piper PA-44 on an instruction flight indicates that a checklist item may have been missed. Investigators found the fuel select lever set to "off" during the post-accident inspection. There was also no fuel found between the fuel selector valve and the engine's fuel pump. On board the airplane were the student pilot, an instructor, and two passengers.

Sixty-Show Schedule Kicks Of Feb. 26th In Daytona, FL

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds have released their 2012 show schedule. The team is set to perform more than 60 demonstrations in 33 locations, including two shows in Canada. The team, officially known as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, will again kick-off their season by performing a flyover for the 54th running of NASCAR's Daytona 500 on Feb. 26.

DOT Reports Seven Delays Longer Than Three Hours On Domestic Flights, 11 Delays Longer Than Four Hours On International Flights

Airlines reported a total of seven tarmac delays of more than three hours on domestic flights and 11 tarmac delays of more than four hours on international flights in October, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Air Travel Consumer Report. The larger U.S. airlines have been required to report long tarmac delays on their domestic flights since October 2008. Under a new rule that took effect Aug. 23, 2011, all U.S. and foreign airlines operating at least one aircraft with 30 or more passenger seats must report lengthy tarmac delays at U.S. airports.
