SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive
(AD) for Rolls-Royce, plc (RR) RB211 Trent 768-60, 772-60, and
772B-60 turbofan engines.
On Tuesday, Boeing and Air China celebrated the delivery of the
150th Boeing airplane to the carrier. The new 737-800 is the first
airplane in China to feature the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games livery
highlighting the official mascots -- the five "Fuwa" animal cartoon
characters.
India's Kingfisher Airlines has taken delivery of four A321
narrowbody aircraft. Their first A321 was delivered to the
Mumbai-based airline in late October 2006, in Hamburg, Germany.
Representatives with Rolls-Royce told ANN Wednesday the company
has secured business worth up to $100 million as its share of an
order for V2500 engines and aftermarket services from
Singapore-based Tiger Airways, one of Asia's leading low-cost
carriers.
Tecnam Aircraft was on site at AOPA Expo 2006, held last week in
Palm Springs, CA, with their C-152 look-alike P2004 Bravo. But
don’t let its familiar looks fool you; the Bravo is a
completely new aircraft, with a full cantilever wing and better
performance than its much senior predecessor.
Say Flights Should Have Been Controlled By Closed TRACON

US Airways Group (USAG) has offered $4 billion cash and 78.5
million shares of US Airways stock to Delta Airlines creditors in a
deal that could create the world's largest carrier.
There were times it looked like this would never happen... but
flight attendants at beleagured regional carrier Comair voted
Tuesday to accept pay cuts and other concessions, to assist the
carrier in its bid to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The Federal Aviation Administration announced Tuesday it has
approved a plan to resume "right turn" departures out of Las Vegas'
McCarran International Airport. The plan routes more aircraft over
affluent neighhborhoods in the northwest section of the gambling
town.
Two low-cost carriers serving different sides of the US
announced Tuesday they will join forces to market each other's
flights -- nearly doubling the destinations each can offer.
"Pass the 'juice'" is the term AOPA Project Pilot spokesman Erik
Lindbergh uses to talk about mentoring and the passion that goes
along with it. "There is no higher calling than to pass along the
'juice' that I got from other people, to get where I am today."
In an all-too-brief seminar given by Jack McCormick, President
of Baja Bush Pilots, at last week's AOPA Expo, attendees attempted
to learn the proper paperwork and hints to fly into Mexico without
incident.
Israeli carrier El Al announced this week it will not go ahead
with its plans to buy 10 Boeing 787 airliners, starting in 2012...
and furthermore, may instead opt for Airbus planes.

A Swedish woman is doing okay now, after she went into allergic
shock and lost consciousness for nearly half an hour while on a
recent flight from Paris to Stockholm. Why did that happen? Turns
out her medication was taken away during a security check in
France.
Representatives with Boeing told ANN Tuesday that
Aeroméxico, Mexico's largest airline, has ordered two more
787-8 Dreamliners, and 10 more Next-Generation 737-700s.
Boeing announced Sunday it has reached a tentative agreement
with the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace
Workers, to end a three-month strike at the company's Oak Ridge, TN
facility.
Aero-News learned Tuesday the second EA-18G Growler airborne
electronic attack (AEA) aircraft has taken its first flight... and
like the first aircraft, the flight took place ahead of
schedule.
