Hell Freezes Over, Campbell Goes to SnF/Lakeland

Hey... Is that...? Naw... Couldn't Be... JIM CAMPBELL at Sun 'n Fun????

The birds are still singing. Great chasms have not opened up in the earth. Society's precepts are more or less intact (no matter what Jerry Falwell may tell you). Rampaging hordes of Visigoths have been amazingly quiet. The four horsemen of the Apocalypse are nowhere to be seen... AND Jim Campbell has been to Sun 'N Fun. Mind you, a heavy frost has been forecast for hell... but that's only a rumor. And.. best of all, Pigs haven't flown.

AOPA, EAA Trade Words With GA-Bashing USA Today Editorial

Nationwide Newspaper Calls For Aviation User Fees

AOPA defended general aviation to the rest of the world on Thursday, after a USA Today editorial claimed airline passengers "subsidize" general aviation. Spitfire Reborn as Thoroughbred Experimental

Mike O'Sullivan remembers Spitfires fondly, and personally. "I had RAAF pilots - Spitfire pilots - in my family. Not my dad, he was in the Navy. But my uncles." Mike smiles, like many of us, when he remembers his earliest interest in aviation. "Yeah, I always wanted to fly. There were always airplanes around the station. Old surplus airplanes, not serviceable… Mustangs, Spitfires." Those planes were destroyed - so much old, irreparable junk, by the standards of the day - before Mike appreciated what they were, or what they signified. But they left their mark. Mike is in the USA to introduce his successful Supermarine Spitfire kit to the American market. The well-finished demonstrator, now the property of American dealer Craig Muth, is approximately 80% scale.

CAE May Appeal Ruing In Loss Of Training Gig

CEO Denies Company Could Move To US

"Surprising." "Detrimental to Canada's industrial future." "There's been some sort of quid pro quo..." That's how some Canadians reacted when they heard that their government has awarded a contract for new CF-18 simulators -- not to the home team, CAE, Inc., but to Bombardier Aerospace, which plans to buy the sims from L-3 Communications in New York. To make that deal work, Ottawa will have to pay $44 million more than CAE bid and uses what, to Canadians, amounts to foreign goods and services.

Aero-News Quote Of The Day (04.16.04)

"Virtually all of the problems with the air traffic control system cited in the USA Today editorial are problems of the airlines' own making. The delays that the FAA and the airlines are already forecasting for this summer are largely due to the hub-and-spoke system that the major airlines rely on. The hub-and-spoke system creates unrealistic arrival and departure schedules at the major hub airports. Summertime storms only compound the problem." Source: Phil Boyer, writing on behalf of the AOPA in USA Today. He was responding to an editorial that accused GA pilots of not paying their full weight when it comes to government-provided aviation services. The paper's opinion quoted a recent in-flight magazine article by Northwest Airlines CEO Richard Anderson, blaming

Forget Mainland Souvenirs -- Hawaii Hungry For Krispy-Kreme

They're Flyin' 'Em In By The Plane Load

Just what IS it about Krispy Kreme doughnuts? Most of us will admit to a deep and very personal love affair with the glazed confections -- they're so easy on the taste buds but so cruel to the waistline.
