FAA Grants STC For Five-Blade Propeller On PA31 Series

Company Claims Improved General, Climb, And Cruise Performance

The FAA has granted an SCT (#SA03249NY) to MT-Propeller Entwicklung for the next generation 5-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-27-1-E-C-F-R(P)/CFR210-58d on the Piper PA31T (Cheyenne II),PA31T1 (Cheyenne 1, 1A), PA31T2 (Cheyenne IIXL) powered by Pratt and Whitney PT6A-11, PT6A-28 and PT6A-135, 135A Blackhawk modification engines. The installation is also certified by EASA (STC No.10038174) and by ANAC Argentina (STC #1212.42 (A)).

According to the company, the propeller installation provides a general performance improvement (5% take-off & climb, 3kts cruise with 1900 rpm), has no propeller speed restrictions on ground while operating in low idle. and significantly reduces cabin noise and vibration.

The prop features a bonded-on-nickel-alloy leading edge for superior erosion protection of the blades, and the company says it provides more ground clearance, the best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operations, and maximum durability and reliability and is suitable for all-weather operation. They say it also offers cooler ITTs during engine start up for less engine wear.

The high technology natural composite blades have no life limitation and can be repaired in case of a foreign object damage (FOD). and all models comply with strictest noise regulations worldwide, according to the company.

MT-Propeller is holder of over 120 STCs worldwide and OEM supplier for more than 90% of the European Aircraft Industry as well as 30 % of the US Aircraft Industry with more than 15.000 propeller systems flying.
