Viral Video Shows Plane Narrowly Missing People On A Runway

Man Riding A Four-Wheeler On The Runway Was Captured On Video, Both Appear To Nearly Be Hit In Planned Stunt

A viral video making the rounds of the Internet shows a man riding a four-wheeler on a runway in Texas nearly being struck by a biplane making a high-speed, low-altitude pass down the strip with smoke on.

The online site The Smoking Gun reports that the stunt, which was captured on video at Lancaster Regional Airport (KLNC) in Lancaster, TX,  was planned, though those where were participating may not have been completely aware of how close the plane was going to be to them. The person riding the four-wheeler did not swerve as the airplane approached at a high rate of speed, though the woman (at least it sounds like a woman, ed) making the video screams as the modified Pitts S2S roars past, and then utters an expletive not appropriate for broadcast television.

The Smoking Gun reports that the pilot of the plane is "extreme aerobatic pilot" Jason Newburg. The video was posted by "Team Stunters," a group that says it performs "stuntbike street shows." Team Stunters said on Twitter that the video was part of a "practice session" for an upcoming show, and that the plan was traveling in excess of 200 mph.

The video has also caught the attention of the FAA, which is reportedly looking into the stunt. Lancaster City Manager Opal Mauldin Robertson said the pilot, who she declined to name, has an aerobatic waiver on file with the city, but the FAA says it has no record of the document. Robertson said the city will be cooperating fully with the FAA in its investigation of the stunt and reviewing the pilot's activities.

The video has been re-posted by dozens of YouTube users and has accumulated thousands of views. We suppose that the best thing to say about it at this point is "don't try this at home."
