Fake Grenade Causes JFK Evacuation

It's hard for us to believe that with as much as airport security has been in the news these past four years, someone could possibly still think it was okay to bring a grenade onboard an aircraft -- but that's exactly what happened Sunday night in Jetblue's terminal at JFK International.

While the grenade was proven to be fake, that's not something that's readily apparent in a security line -- resulting in the evacuation of approximately 500 passengers from the terminal, as well as delaying the departure and arrivals of eight flights during the busy Sunday night rush, according to Newsday.

The terminal was reopened at just before 10 o'clock, and charges had not been yet filed against the unidentified male passenger who had the replica grenade in his carry-on luggage.

"Local authorities are working on the investigation and once they conclude that, more information [on charges] will be available," Jetblue spokesman Bryan Baldwin said.
