Operator Says Military Drone Use Falls Outside Pacifist Mission of Starlink

SpaceX has taken some small steps to prevent Ukraine MoD and military use of the network for long range command and control over drones, saying it falls outside the peaceful intentions of the service. Over the last year, Starlink has become one of the few reliable internet providers in the country, providing service to a wide range of Ukranian military and government units across the country - for communication.

No Injuries Reported in 08 February UES Mishap

On 08 February 2023 a Cirrus Vision Jet (SF50) operated by Hillandale Air LLC suffered a runway excursion after a hard landing at Waukesha County Airport (UES)—a public-use airport 1.6-nautical-miles north of Waukesha, Wisconsin. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office reported the aircraft landed in such a manner that its nose-wheel touched-down on UES’s Runway 28 prior to its main landing gear. The small jet then departed the runway, coming to rest in an adjacent field. Neither of the aircraft’s two occupants—a pilot and passenger—were injured.

A Workhorse Reshod

Textron Aviation—the parent company of Beechcraft, Hawker (formerly), Cessna, and Lycoming—is offering a gravel kit for its new Cessna SkyCourier twin turboprop. The kit affords SkyCourier operators flexibility to operate their aircraft from the unimproved runways by which the world’s more remote locales are characterized. First deliveries of the SkyCourier with the installed gravel kit option will commence in February 2023.

Daher announced the delivery of 73 aircraft from the combined Kodiak and TBM lineup throughout 2022, with record orders for 100+ for delivery through 2024. Airline Pay Arms Race Continues with Sign-On bonus and Premium Pay 'til 2026

PSA Airlines has announced a few niceties for pilots at the company in order to bolster retention of its more senior and qualified pilots. The big news is that direct entry captains with more than 950 flight hours (of 121 time, of course) receive a $100,000 sign-on bonus, with pay rates starting at $146 per hour. First Officers with 500+ flight hours will see a $75,000 sign-on bonus and pay starting at $90 per hour. The "revolutionary sign-on bonus program" has been extended through March 31, 2023, with pilot premium pay through 2026.

On 02 February 2023, the USAF's 90th Missile Wing canceled the 2023 Wings Over Warren airshow due to the unfortunate but necessary cancellation of the event’s headline act—the USAF Thunderbirds. The famed air demonstration squadron dropped out of the show after it was determined that performing in Cheyenne carried too much risk insomuch as no approved emergency landing airfields are located in sufficiently close proximity to F.E. Warren AFB.

On January 13, 2023, about 2044 local time, American Airlines (AA) flight 106, a Boeing 777-200, crossed runway 4L, without air traffic control (ATC) clearance, at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Queens, New York causing Delta Airlines (DAL) flight 1943, a Boeing 737-900ER, to abort its takeoff on runway 4L. Of the 6 crew and 153 passengers on DAL 1943, and 12 crew and 137 passengers on AA106, there were no injuries. There was no damage to either aircraft.
