The Tweed New Haven Airport Authority has approved a new 43-year lease and management agreement with Goldman-Sachs-owned Avports LLC, thereby clearing the way for a $100-million airport expansion. The tumultuous meeting at which the lease agreement was ratified saw the entirety of East Haven’s town representatives vote against the proposal, and East Haven mayor Joe Carfora speak forcefully on behalf of his constituents—albeit to no avail.

Malaysia Airlines Upgrades Fleet With 20 A330neo

10 To Be Purchased From Airbus And 10 To Be Leased From Dublin-Based Avolon

Malaysia Aviation Group has selected the A330neo for the carrier’s widebody fleet renewal programme. The initial agreements cover the acquisition of 20 A330-900 aircraft, with 10 to be purchased from Airbus and 10 to be leased from Dublin-based Avolon. The announcement was made at an event in Kuala Lumpur, attended by MAG CEO Izham Ismail and Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International Christian Scherer, who signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the aircraft to be ordered from Airbus.

AD: Airbus Canada Limited Partnership

AD 2022-16-08 Prompted By A Dual-Engine Automatic Shutdown On Landing

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Airbus Canada Limited Partnership Model BD-500-1A10 and BD-500-1A11 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a dual-engine automatic shutdown on landing. This AD requires revising the existing airplane flight manual (AFM) to incorporate a new normal procedure and revised non-normal procedures, as specified in a Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD becomes effective September 1, 2022.

He Noted The Airplane Banked Left, Performed A Barrel Roll To The Left...

On August 2, 2022, about 1145 CDT, an Air Tractor AT-502, N9184Q, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Cheneyville, Louisiana. The commercial pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137 aerial application flight. The operator reported that the pilot was scheduled that day to disperse 7 loads of urea fertilizer. The first job was dispersing 5 loads covering 57 acres, and the second job was dispersing 2 loads to trim the edges of an adjacent 35-acre field.
