Boeing Expects Dreamliner Certification Friday

FAA And EASA Set To Clear The New Airliner For Service

The buzz around the Puget Sound region is that the FAA and EASA will announce Friday that the Boeing Dreamliner is a certified airplane, clearing the way for entry into service with ANA later this year. The first airplane is expected to be delivered to the Japanese customer in September.

Plane Was Used To Test Efficiency Improvements In Flight

Boeing says the Next-Generation 737 that served as a flying test bed for a series of efficiency improvements has now been delivered to United Airlines. Boeing began performance improvement testing in November 2010 with the goal of reducing fuel consumption by up to two percent. For customers, that would mean saving an average of $120,000 per airplane, per year, based on current fuel prices.

Two Austrian Eurofighters conducted a QRA training interception of Austrian Airlines new A380 on its flight through Austrian airspace on Monday, August 22nd. After Vienna's Mayor Dr. Haupl christened the new Lufthansa A380 "Wien" at the hub of Austrian Airlines, the Eurofighters, scrambling from their base in Zeltweg/Styria, intercepted and flew in formation with the A380.
