A TFR has been issued for Thursday and Friday around the greater
Chicago area corresponding with a visit by President Obama to the
region, and pilots wishing to transit the area on their way to
Oshkosh will need to plan accordingly.

Former ASIG Owner Re-Enters Airfield Services Arena
Ranger Aerospace, a private equity consolidator that specializes
in the aviation industry, has re-entered the airfield services
industry with the majority buyout of CAV International, Inc. CAV is
a government outsourcing contractor specialized in airfield
services and logistics.

the Stratos 714 Very Light Personal Jet. In conjunction with the

The first two EADS North America-built UH-72A Lakota Light

Passenger Demand, Cargo Traffic Show Steep Drops From June
2008
The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), the industry
trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, reports that
passenger revenue fell 26 percent in June 2009 versus the same
month in 2008 - the eighth consecutive month in which passenger
revenue has fallen from the prior year.
Despite the sluggishness of both the economy and business jet
sales, Bombardier Aerospace is continuing to move forward with its
Learjet 85 program. To date over 30 major suppliers have been
engaged and are active in the joint definition phase.
Final assembly of Airbus' first A330-200F is well underway as
the new-generation cargo jetliner is readied for its maiden flight
in November. This aircraft began an on-time build-up in June, which
has included the mating of its fuselage sections, wing and
horizontal/vertical tail, as well as installation of the main and
nose landing gear.
The Challenger Center for Space Science Education, a non-profit
organization founded in 1986 by the families of the astronauts
tragically lost in the Challenger 51-L mission, released the

SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive
2009-11-12
SUMMARY: The FAA is
superseding an existing airworthiness directive (AD), which applies
to certain Airbus Model A310 series airplanes. This new AD
reduces the intervals for accomplishing repetitive inspections in a
certain area.
SUBJECT: Airworthiness Directive 2009-15-07
SUMMARY: In 2005 a lateral runway excursion
occurred on an A320 aircraft. Such excursions are classified as
hazardous, with a large reduction in safety margins. Investigation
has shown that the aircraft landed with the nose wheels rotated
nearly 20 degrees from center.
TCM is spilling the beans on some intriguing test flights that
they've undertaken in recent days. Over the course of these tests,
TCM achieved a peak fuel economy of 30.7 miles per gallon in a Full
Authority Digital Electronic Controlled (FADEC) piston engine
aircraft.

New Chief Operating Officer Announced at Lancair
International
Lancair International, Inc is pleased to announce that Thomas A.
Bowen has joined their Management team as Chief Operating Officer.
Effective July 20, Tom will be reporting to Joseph Bartels,
President and CEO of Lancair.
President Obama Had Said He'd Veto The Defense Appropriations
Bill
The full Senate has voted 58-40 to strip $1.75 billion from the
Defense Department appropriations bill earmarked for an additional
seven F-22 Raptors. The plane had been the subject of a threatened
Presidential veto.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command and its
geographical component, the Continental U.S. NORAD Region, will
conduct a training flight exercise on July 22 in the National
Capital Region (NCR), Washington, D.C.
Boeing, Airbus May Each Get Some Of The $100 Billion Pie
With the prize possibly the most lucrative Pentagon contract in
history, Boeing and a consortium of Northrop and EADS, which
manufactures the Airbus, have been battling over which company will
replace the aging fleet of KC-135 tankers for the Air Force.
Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation (Aurora) says it has
successfully completed the first flight of the Excalibur Unmanned
Aircraft System (UAS). The VTOL turbine hybrid electric unmanned
air vehicle is the first of a new class of tactical unmanned combat
air vehicles.
Global Organization Helps Highlight Latest Innovations In
Missionary Aviation
This year's AirVenture will spotlight the new MAF (Mission
Aviation Fellowship) KODIAK aircraft, a nine-seat, turbine aircraft
taking the world of aviation by storm. The airplane went into
service earlier this year for the respected international mission
agency, which will display it July 27-Aug. 2 on AeroShell Square,
the focal point of the air show.
"I'd be surprised if they'd do it (split the contract),
but politics has won over economics many times
before."
