Urgent CASA AD: Boeing

Applicability: All Model 727, 727C, 727-100, 727-100C, 727-200 and 727-200F series aeroplanes.

Requirement: Revise the Limitations Section of the Boeing 727 Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) to include the following statement, this may be accomplished by inserting a copy of this Directive into the AFM: "Do not reset a tripped fuel pump circuit breaker." When a statement identical to that above has been included in the general revisions of the AFM, the general revisions may be inserted into the AFM and the copy of this Directive may be removed from the AFM.

Note: FAA AD 2005-23-07 Amdt 39-14365 refers.

Compliance: Within 30 days after the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 13 December 2005.

Background: The Federal Aviation Administration has advised that following a fuel system safety review conducted by the aeroplanes manufacturer, Boeing, an AFM amendment to prohibit the resetting of a tripped fuel pump circuit breaker was necessary to prevent possible ignition sources within the fuel tank.
