Upgraded: CMC's Cathy Bain and Francois Dorval

Bain Appointed Vice-President, Marketing and Sales; Dorvan To Lead Quality Assurance

CMC Electronics Inc. has named Cathy Bain vice-president, marketing and sales and has appointed Francois Dorval to the newly-created position of vice-president, quality assurance and continuous Improvement. Together, they'll lead the company's efforts to build better products... and sell them.

In her new position, Cathy will lead CMC's marketing and sales activities and consolidate the marketing of all CMC products in its military aviation, commercial aviation and custom electronics business units. In this capacity, Bain will direct a team of employees in Ottawa, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec; Chicago, IL; and in the United Kingdom.

Bain has held the position of director of marketing of CMC's commercial aviation business unit since 2000. She joined CMC Electronics in 1997 in the position of marketing manager, satellite communications products. Before joining CMC, she held a number of positions of ever increasing responsibility at Spar Aerospace and Leigh Instruments, including marketing manager, project manager and project cost analyst, in its flight safety systems and military avionics divisions. Prior to that, Bain held positions at Gandalf Technologies and the Architectural Institute of Canada.

"Cathy is highly qualified to lead this key area of responsibility given the leadership skills she gained during the sixteen years that she has worked in the aerospace industry," said Jean-Pierre Mortreux, president and CEO, CMC Electronics. "Her valuable experience in marketing, business development, program management and human resources management will contribute to supporting the company's growth and sales objectives."

CMC Electronics designs and produces leading technology electronics products for the aviation and global positioning markets. Its principal locations are in Montreal, Quebec; Ottawa, Ontario; and Chicago, Illinois. CMC Electronics is a private company controlled by an investor group led by ONCAP L.P. ONCAP is a CDN $400 million investment fund established by Onex Corporation and a number of leading Canadian financial institutions. Onex is a diversified company with annual consolidated revenues of approximately CDN $16 billion and consolidated assets of approximately CDN $14 billion. Onex is one of Canada's largest companies with global operations in the service, manufacturing and technology industries.

Francois Dorval

Francois Dorval has been named to the newly-created position of vice-president, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Most recently, Dorval was vice-president of programs at Thales Avionics Canada Inc. He previously held the position of director, quality and continuous improvement, at Thales, where he joined in 1997 as a program manager. He began his career in the automotive industry as a project engineer, and he holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from l'�cole Polytechnique de l'Universit� de Montr�al.

"Francois has gained valuable experience in the aerospace industry where he has held a variety of senior level positions in program and quality management," said Jean-Pierre Mortreux, president and CEO, CMC Electronics. "At CMC, he will provide vital support to our company's efforts to continuously improve our processes as a means to enhance customer satisfaction."
