Three Member Companies Sign On As Scholarship Sponsors

While officially opening the 50th Anniversary AEA International Convention & Trade Show Thursday, the Aircraft Electronics Association announced the names of 30 individuals who were awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships for the 2007/2008 academic year through the AEA Educational Foundation.

Last year, the AEA announced the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association had come onboard as a new sponsor with the AOPA Scholarship. This year, three new companies joined the AEA Educational Foundation in offering scholarships, with each sponsoring $1,000 awards. These new sponsors are Duncan Aviation, Rockwell Collins and Southeast Aerospace.

“The AEA is proud to add the support of these companies to the largest aircraft technician scholarship program in the world,” said Mike Adamson, director of training and education for AEA.

Individuals who were awarded scholarships -- including the three new scholarships -- through the AEA Educational Foundation for the 2007/08 academic year are:

The AEA Educational Foundation awards scholarships to students pursuing a career in the general aviation maintenance and aircraft electronics industry. The intent of these scholarships is to identify and reward those individuals who best exemplify the qualities that lead to success in the aviation industry. The Foundation was started in 1990 to enhance, promote and secure the future of aviation and the AEA by furthering the education of students, technicians, members of the AEA and others as determined by aviation industry needs.

Since its inception, the AEA scholarship program has awarded nearly $1 million in scholarships.
