American Eurocopter Delivers EC135 To SoCal Power Company

Will Be Used For Line Maintenance, Installation

Southern California Edison recently took delivery of an EC135 at American Eurocopter’s facilities in Grand Prairie, TX. It is the second EC135 in the fleet and it will be used for the maintenance and installation of power lines over rural and congested areas.

Southern California Edison’s EC135 was completed with a certified dual cargo hook which will be used in maintaining and installing power lines in Southern California Edison’s service area. American Eurocopter completed the installation of the dual cargo hook.

The new EC135 will join a fleet of helicopters that supports Southern California Edison’s wide service area. Southern California Edison is one of the largest electric utilities in California, serving a population of more than 13 million via 4.8 million customer accounts in a 50,000-square-mile service area within Central, Coastal and Southern California.

Sporting a super-quiet Fenestron tail rotor, the EC135 is the most popular light twin helicopter in the United States. Eurocopter Southern California Edison chose the EC135 because of its twin-engine reliability and performance, and the safety afforded by its shrouded Fenestron tail rotor. The Fenestron also gives the EC135 the most environmentally conscious sound signature in its class.
