"The nature of the object that hit the shuttle radiator isn’t known."

Source: Part of NASA's statement Thursday confirming reports from experts outside the agency that... something... collided with a radiator panel on the space shuttle Atlantis during its recent mission to the International Space Station. The one-tenth-of-one-inch dent -- known as "Ding 18" -- was discovered in one of the shuttle's two thermal radiators, which fold out of the cargo bay to shed excess heat from the cabin. Internal NASA documents refer to the ding as the first or second largest hit in the shuttle's history.
