Drone Aviation's 'Blimp In A Box' Joins Search For Pennsylvania Fugitive

Police Use BiB Aerial Platform In Ongoing Manhunt

A tethered aerostat developed by Drone Aviation based in Jacksonville, FL has been deployed by Pennsylvania police in the Pocono Mountains on the border of Pike and Monroe Counties where alleged cop-killer Eric Frein is thought to be hiding in a heavily forested area.

"The BiB platform is ideally suited to rapid deployment and search and rescue missions. With long duration monitoring capability it can silently provide real-time daylight and thermal imaging to law enforcement officials," Felicia Hess, CEO of Drone Aviation Holding Corp, said in a news release. "We are proud that the BiB will be able to assist the Pennsylvania police in this important mission and hope it can be resolved quickly and safely for all those involved."

Designed for public safety and civil purposes, Drone's commercial tethered systems are different from free flying drones due to the utilization of a secure, high strength tether line which remains connected to the ground. The Drone aerostat system is a cost effective solution that is able to safely operate in the National Airspace in compliance with FAA regulations.

Military versions of the BiB and WASP aerostat systems are in use by various Department of Defense customers as an aerial platform for semi-persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance applications as well as serving as a rapidly deployed extended communications solution for ground troops.
