Planemaker To Shuffle Production Between Hamburg And
Toulouse
As part of its restructuring plan to save money and deal
with production delays, European aircraft manufacturing giant
Airbus is to build its next-generation A320 aircraft in Hamburg,
Germany, while production for A350 and A380 will move to
Toulouse, France.
With an almost unprecedented majority for such a dispute, 96% of
British Airways' (BA) cabin crews voted to strike earlier today
citing disputes over sick pay and pensions.

Today, ANN's Paul Plack talks with Kevin Sweeney, president of Vulcan Aircraft Engines, which debuted a new 105 HP diesel LSA engine at the US Sport Aviation Expo.
Weather delays are stifling air travel once again... as ANN
knows only too well. ANN personnel who were in Florida this week to
attend the Sebring Sport Aviation Expo as well as ANN's final
planning meeting for our upcoming "ANN 10.0" upgrades wound up
sweating out the weather. Some ANN staffers joined the hundreds who
had flights -- requiring whole day delays in getting home.
Aero-News learned this weekend the first Red Flag exercise this
year, dubbed "Colonial Flag," is scheduled to begin January 16 at
Nellis AFB, marking the 32nd year for Red Flag operations.
Enduring temperatures of -76 degrees Fahrenheit and fighting off
a mild bout of hypoxia, David Hempleman-Adams recently broke the
world altitude record in a hot air balloon. The British explorer
flew to 32,500 feet -- higher than the cruising altitude
for many passenger jets.
The FAA has proposed a set of special conditions the Aviation
Technology Group's upcoming Javelin 100 will have to meet prior to
the issuance of a Type Certification, due to the placement of the
aircraft's twin turbofan engines.

Contrary to its reputation as a fundamentalist Islamic
stronghold in the Middle East, changes ARE coming to Saudia Arabia
-- a series of reforms meant to bring it more in-line with modern
times and mores. One sign of that progress is the fact the kingdom
will soon see its first female pilot.
