Eclipse Aviation's flight test program, fighting winter weather and the necessary ceilings for flight test ops, has recently logged its 3rd and 4th flights, with a total of four hours flown, thus far. On the fourth flight, N503EA executed 7 standard gear retractions out to an imposed limit of 190 kts, while also practicing two emergency gear extensions.

The body of Joseph Schaffer, pilot of an EC-135 medical helo that went down in the Potomac River near Washington, DC, Monday night, has now been recovered. Schaffer, a 30-year flight veteran, was still strapped in his seat, underwater approximately 40 feet from the crash site. He was found by rescuers and a cadaver dog.

An Antonov An-12 cargo plane crashed Saturday afternoon in Uganda, killing pilot Vladimir Emelyanov, co-pilot Vitaly Smetankiy, and four other crew members: Mikhail Matvyeev, Alexandr Bitkin, Alexandr Miebvrbev, and Andrei Morozov. All of the victims are Russians.
