Aero-TV: Heritage Over Oshkosh 2010 -- Honoring What Got Us Here Today

Stirring the Souls of Flyers All Over America, The Heritage Flights Remind Us Why We Are Free

These are the sights and sound that stir the hearts of aviators all over the world... but especially for those is here in the good ol' USA. Airpower, old and new, in tight formation, showing the world what kept us free... time after time.

The USAF Heritage Flight program was established in 1997 to commemorate the Air Force's 50th anniversary. It involves today's state-of-the-art fighters flying in close formation with World War II, Korean and Vietnam era fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and the F-86 Sabre. In 2010 the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation (AFHFF) was formed with the primary mission of providing Heritage Flight performances for the public.

The Heritage Flight Program's mission is to safely and proudly display the evolution of USAF airpower and to support the Air Force's recruiting and retention efforts. The USAF Heritage Flight (HF) program presents the evolution of USAF air power by flying today's state-of-the-art fighter aircraft in close formation with vintage fighter aircraft.

An HF performance involves a current USAF fighter piloted by an Air Combat Command trained military HF pilot and flown with a historical warbird piloted by a trained and certified civilian HF pilot. The HF formations of modern fighters flying with World War II, Korean, and Vietnam era fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and F-86 Sabre, dramatically display US Air Force air power history and proudly support the Air Force's recruiting and retention efforts.
