An extraordinary effort reached a milestone this week... the first flight AND return of a painstakingly handcrafted replica of the Spirit of St Louis -- The Spirit of St Louis 2. Piloted by Robert Ragozzino, the bird made a 15-20 minute first flight and returned to a hangar in Bethany OK, for a chance to debrief and 'desquawk' the bird before the resumption of the flight test program. What's this about? The goal of the SOS2 project is to recreate Charles Lindbergh's 1927 solo flight from New York to Paris across the Atlantic Ocean.

Tecnam Has A Solution For Equitable COVID Vaccine Distribution

Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam has partnered with ultra-freezer manufacturer DESMON to repurpose their P2012 airplane for COVID vaccine transportation. The aircraft platform named P2012 TRAVELCARE was developed to help distributors worldwide reach even the most remote and hardly accessible communities, including the areas with underdeveloped transport infrastructure, to ensure timely and equitable delivery of help. Equipped with DESMON’s ultra-freezer designed to attain, maintain and track product temperature, Tecnam’s P2012 TRAVELCARE can transport as many as 115,000 vaccines to areas with less than 1,850ft of paved or unpaved runway.

Alaska Airlines has completed an agreement, in principle, with Boeing to restructure the airline's order to receive a total of 68 Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft with options for an additional 52 planes. Alaska is scheduled to receive 13 planes in 2021; 30 in 2022; 13 in 2023; and 12 in 2024. The delivery schedule will largely replace Alaska's Airbus fleet and moves the airline substantially toward a single, mainline fleet that's more efficient, profitable and environmentally friendly, and that will enhance the guest experience and support the company's growth. This restructured agreement with Boeing incorporates Alaska's announcement last month to lease 13 737-9 aircraft.

He Noticed A Sound And Vibration From The Engine, So He Aborted The Takeoff

On August 1, 2020, about 0130 central daylight time, a Piper PA-28R-201 airplane, N9765C, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at Seiling Airport (1S4), Seiling, Oklahoma. The pilot and three passengers were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. In a statement from the pilot, he reported that he arrived with the same three passengers earlier that day for a rodeo event. After the rodeo, they returned to the airplane about 0100 and prepared to depart. The pilot confirmed that the takeoff weight was 2,622.8 lbs (maximum takeoff weight is 2,750 lbs), and about 25 to 26 gallons of fuel
