GAO: DOT Tweet Violated Anti-Lobbying Rule

Passed Along Message Supporting ATC Modernization

The Government Accountability Office has determined that the U.S. DOT  violated an anti-lobbying provision in the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, 2017, when it “retweeted” and “liked” a tweet urging followers to “[t]ell Congress to pass” pending legislation. Although DOT was not the author of the tweet, DOT, by retweeting and liking it, not only endorsed the message, but also created agency content. Because DOT obligated and expended appropriated funds in violation of a statutory prohibition, DOT also violated the Antideficiency Act.

Delta Air Lines Places Order For 100 A321neo ACF Aircraft

To Be Powered By Pratt & Whitney PW1133G-JM Geared Turbofan Engines

Delta Air Lines has placed an order with Airbus for 100 of the manufacturer’s modern A321neo ACF (Airbus Cabin Flex configuration) aircraft. The U.S.-based carrier selected the largest member of Airbus’ single-aisle Family to meet Delta’s future requirements for aircraft with greater efficiency and additional capacity. The airline’s A321neo ACF planes will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1133G-JM geared turbofan engines.

A definitive agreement has been reached for the acquisition of Sun County Airlines by funds affiliated with Apollo Global Management from brothers Marty and Mitch Davis. The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions, is targeted to close during the first quarter of 2018. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

GRACE-FO Satellites Headed For Launch Site

German-Built Gravity Research Spacecraft Are On The Way To Vandenberg Air Force Base In California

The twin GRACE-FO satellites have begun their journey to Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Together with test equipment totalling around 50 tons, the gravity research satellites built and developed by Airbus in Friedrichshafen (Germany) were loaded overnight onto an air freighter at Munich airport and flown to the U.S. Tuesday. GRACE-FO is a joint project between NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) based in Pasadena, California, and the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam.
