Certificate Allows Assembly Of Aircraft In Russia For Two Years

HeliVert, a joint venture between Russian Helicopters and AgustaWestland, has received a Certificate of Approval from the Aviation Register of the Interstate Aviation Committee (AR IAC) for production of the AW139 commercial helicopter. The certificate is valid for two years.

Contract Expands Current Work On A350 XWB Program

ATK has finalized an agreement with Airbus to manufacture and supply composite stringers and frames on the –1000 variant of the A350 XWB program. The contract expansion adds to the work already being performed on the A350 XWB program. This agreement is the next step in ATK's valuable working relationship with Airbus and its partners, Aerolia SAS and Premium Aerotec GmbH.

Joint Mission Scheduled For Launch In A Month

The world enters a new era of global weather observing and climate science in February with the launch of the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Core Observatory, a new international science satellite built by NASA. GPM, a joint mission between NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), is scheduled to launch Feb. 27 from Tanegashima Space Center in Japan.

Recipients Offered Proposals Through Young Investigator Research Program

The Air Force Office of Scientific Research announced Jan. 24 that it will award approximately $15.5 million in grants to 42 scientists and engineers from 32 research institutions who submitted winning research proposals through the Air Force's Young Investigator Research Program, or YIP.

EASA Approval Kick Starts Launch of 'Dassault Training Academy'

Dassault Aviation recently received regulatory approval from the EASA to operate as a Part 147 Training Center, the first such authorization to be granted to a business jet OEM. The approval allows Dassault Aviation to comply with new European regulations requiring that technicians be offered practical maintenance instruction in addition to theoretical training, and permits them the ability to obtain an EASA type rating certificate through their Part 66 license.

Partnership Aims To Promote Local Production Of Sustainable Jet Fuels

Airbus and key Malaysian partners have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to assess local solutions for sustainable bio-mass production in Malaysia. The aim is to determine the most suitable feedstocks to ensure that any future jet fuel production in the region is based only on sustainable solutions. The first assessment is expected to be completed by December 2014.

TAG Aviation S.A. recently introduced iPad-based electronic flight bag (EFB) technology to its Switzerland-based fleet, featuring Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck.
